Conference Scholarships
 
To encourage attendance at the NELA Annual Conference. Six grants, no more than one for each New England state, are awarded for the cost of registration and banquet onlyNo travel expenses are supported. Scholarships are awarded annually as long as funds are available.  Applicants must be a NELA member. Applicants are no longer required to be first time attendees to annual conference. Persons who have not previously attended the Annual Conference are given preference, however, we encourage ALL interested parties to apply.

Information for conference scholarships will always be posted on that year's conference event website.

Continuing Education Grants
 

To provide financial assistance to NELA members for conferences, courses, institutes, seminars or other study opportunities not leading to a degree, including NELA programs. The award may subsidize up to a maximum of $1,000. Scholarships are awarded twice a year as long as funds are available. Retrospective awards are allowed. Applicants must be a NELA member. Applications are currently closed and will reopen again in the summer.

Graduate Study Scholarships
 

To provide financial assistance for students pursuing graduate education in Library and Information Science. The award may subsidize up to a maximum of $1,000. Scholarships are awarded twice a year as long as funds are available. Retrospective awards are allowed.  Applications are currently closed and will reopen again in the summer.

An applicant must be:

  • A New England resident.
  • A NELA member at the time of receiving the scholarship.
  • A full or part-time student: (a) who is enrolled in a degree program at an ALA- accredited library school or (b) who is enrolled in a state-certified school library media program.
  • The applicant need not be an entering student.

Spectrum Scholarship Grants
 
Spectrum Scholarship Grants supplement the ALA Spectrum Scholarships awarded to minority candidates from New England. All New England winners are eligible for these grants. Award my subsidize up to a maximum of $1,000. Scholarships are awarded annually as long as funds are available.
Fundraising

The Educational Assistance Committee works to raise money all year long with fundraisers such as our See's Candies Storefront (NELA receives up to 50% from every order!) and trivia nights at NELA's Annual Conference. You may also make a personal donation to the Educational Assistance Fund.
