Conference Scholarships
To encourage first-time attendance at the NELA Annual Conference and membership in NELA, NELA  is offering its members and non-members, the opportunity to make first-time conference attendance possible with annual scholarship.  Thea are awarded annually to up to six applicants representing each New England state.

Each recipient will receive a full conference registration (does not include travel reimbursements) AND one-year membership to NELA.

With funding from the Educational Assistance Fund, any New England library employee or full-time library school student who has not previously attended the Annual Conference is eligible.  Applicants cannot have been the recipient of any other NELA scholarship, bequest, or grant in the past 12 months.  Applicants do not have to be current members of NELA.

The deadline for scholarship applications is typically June 30th.    At the July Conference Committee meeting, applicants will be reviewed and recipients will be selected. Recipients will be notified and an announcement will be sent out via email, website, and social media by the end of July.

Continuing Education Grants
This grant provides a subsidy of up to $1,000 for 50% of the cost of workshops, courses, institutes, seminars and other study opportunities not leading to a degree for personal NELA members working in or involved with a New England library or library association, including trustees, volunteers, and friends.

An applicant cannot have been the recipient of any other NELA scholarship, bequest, or grant in the past 12 months. Applicants can apply for multiple continuing education opportunities, but there is a maximum of one award per applicant. The award may subsidize up to 50% of the cost of the continuing education opportunity.

Grants are approved by the Executive Board which meets in January, March, May, July, and September so please factor those dates in when applying. The application must be submitted at least eight weeks prior to the program and is available online.
