This two half-day seminar covers a variety of topics i
ncluding:
- Three Key Copyright Provisions Impacted by Licensing - Often licenses impact our use
rights under copyright law, three of the rights are reviewed briefly and e
xamples of license clauses that impact those rights are examined.
- Understand
ing License Terms and Conditions - We will review a number of key concepts in licensing t
erms and conditions, this will build a foundation for a more detailed exami
nation of licenses.
- Licensing Pitfalls - Building on the previous work we continue the dis
cussion of various provisions in licenses using sample language from actual
licenses, evaluating the variations among the licenses and approaches to a
n effective response.
- Walk-through of two license agreements - One is a content subscripti
on agreement of various journal titles, and the other is a service agreemen
t that allows us to apply the previous concepts and examine license provisi
ons in the context of a complete agreement.
- A Checklist for evaluating your
license based on the Liblicense Model License Agreement - Understanding the pluses and m
inuses of a model license agreement we will determine that such agreements
can nonetheless offer a guide for reviewing a license.
